It is time to celebrate! Baby’s first birthday, kiddos’ 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, sibling photos, family photos, pet buddy photos. Anything that brings a smile to your face and captures a moment in your child’s life. Theme sets are a great way to add more personality and creativity into your photo. If your dream is to be in space or you just love lots of flowers and happy lights, Chelsea V Photography can help brings your imagination into fruition along with guidance, tips and tricks for the best outcome, and outfit recommendations. Whatever your motivation for milestone photos, one thing you shouldn’t worry about is your photographer. You should feel comfortable, laugh, and even make an experience out of your session. With Chelsea V Photography, you will get to enjoy a stress-free session with full directions on posing, capturing the moments in between, and a smooth process with all the details.

What to Expect.

People don’t hire photographers just for their gear. When you hire a professional photographer, you’re asking for their insight and experience. Chelsea V Photography will create a themed set according to your requests, ideas, and vision. If you’re not sure where to get started, no worries. I can create something based on a general point of direction. I can base an entire theme off an outfit or favorite toy. I highly recommend bringing small sentiment items such as a teddy bear, shoes, a gift box to open, or other small items easily placed in the scene. With milestone sessions, I love to do posed photos and candid/lifestyle sets. This means we get to play and have fun as well as grab the classic smiling portraits. Most of the professional “candid” photos are actually fully guided and instructed! That is why it is so hard to get a photo like that on your own. That doesn’t mean stiff or forced smiles. It will mean I do some work with baby/kiddos to get to know them. It is very common for little ones to be overwhelmed, shy, nervous, or even grumpy! I draws on many years of experience of working with kids to discover your baby’s personality and comfort level.

After we finish the session, I send you a gallery online with stylized adjustments and light editing. You pick your final images. In the final photos, I will do an additional clean up (retouch) and deliver them in high resolution digital files. You can also order prints that ship directly to your home.  At any point you’d like a zoom meeting or phone conference, let me know. Clients can bring their own cake, cupcakes, or donuts. Please detail your treat plan with Chelsea before bringing. Be sure to test all food products with your baby well before your session to avoid allergies or adverse reactions. Baby’s often cry and get upset when they smash cakes due to the texture. Some parents like the surprise reaction/baby’s first being captured. In this case, please be prepared for possible tears! But note, we do plenty of images without the cake/treats before hand. Your sweet one should be well rested the day(s) before your session. Try to schedule with their naptimes and happy times in mind.

Studio Sessions.

Air conditioning (or heater), no wind, no rain and a dressing room!? Wow, you guessed it this is the recommended location for baby sessions. The studio is a perfect option for a more controlled environment. You won’t have to worry about weather, wind, or finding a bathroom. More times are available, so you can work around schedules like bedtimes. The studio is located in Miramar near Mira Mesa. Chelsea V Photography, 7905 Silverton Ave, #107 San Diego CA 92126.

Studio sessions are available throughout the day Wednesday-Saturday. Saturdays book quickly during peak holidays and summer. Book ahead of time to secure your spot.

Outdoor Sessions.

Most families LOVE sessions at the beach, but it will depend on if baby likes the sand. Other popular locations are Balboa Park, Midland Poway Railroad and Julian. Residents and visitors enjoy finding new locations like Rancho Penasquitos trails, parks with playgrounds, or seeing our beautiful cliffs and bluffs at places in Torrey Pines. Either way, Chelsea V Photography offers a variety of locations within and near San Diego. If you’re not sure where to start, just give a general idea (beach or park) and Chelsea will do give suggestions, research an area, or try to find a new spot for you. Outdoor sessions may not be the best fit depending on your baby or kiddos’ current tolerance to weather, dirt/sand, and sleeping schedule. Be sure to consult with Chelsea before booking.

Outdoor sessions are highly recommended near sunset. Morning and other times available depending on the location. Chelsea carefully plans your session around lighting and tides. If you know you want a Saturday sunset sessions, contact as soon as possible especially during holidays.

Chelsea V Photography offers event photography for return clients. Family reunion, vacation rentals, birthday parties, and more. The only event that Chelsea doesn’t offer is weddings!
